Happy Holi | Festival of Colour

Holi is a popular ancient Hindu festival, originating from the Indian subcontinent. It is mainly celebrated in India, but extends from the Indian subcontinent to other regions of Asia and also through the diaspora. Holi is popularly known as the Indian "festival of spring", "festival of colours" or "festival of love". The festival symbolises the victory of good over evil. It symbolises the arrival of spring, the end of winter, the blooming of love, and many celebrations to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and mend broken relationships. The festivals also celebrate the beginning of a good spring harvest season. It lasts for one night and one day, the beginning of the full moon (full moon day) falling in the Vikram Samvat calendar, in the Hindu calendar Phalgun month, which falls in the Gregory calendar in mid-March. The first evening is known as Holika Dahan (demon Holika Jalana) or Chhoti Holi and the next day as Holi, Rangwali Holi, Dhuleti, Dhulandi, or Phagwa.
